Journal of Songke Math(JSM) is a peer-reviewed open access journal published twice in a year (June and December). The JSM aims to provide an international forum for researchers and professionals to share their ideas on all topics related to mathematics education. It publishes its issues in an online and a printed version. The JSM welcomes high-quality manuscripts resulted from a research project in the scope of mathematics education, which includes, but is not limited to the following topics: Realistic Mathematics Education, Design/Development Research in Mathematics Education, PISA Task, Mathematics Ability, ICT in Mathematics Education, and Ethnomathematics. The manuscript must be original research, written in Bahasa and English, and not be simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the correlation between motivation and learning outcomes based on participation in self-learning communities on the student of the mathematics department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sorong, held on 27 April to 27 May 2015, with a population of 132 students and a sample of 30 students. The method used is the experiment that studied quantitatively and qualitatively, of the instrument which tested the reliability and validity. Data written tests and questionnaires are not all normal but all similar samples. Hypothesis test using Paired Sample t-test, Wilcoxon Rank singed, Pearson correlation and Kendall. There is a change on the written test, but there is no correlation between motivation and learning outcomes based on participation in self-learning communities on the student of Mathematics department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sorong with correlation result test semester IV Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,600> 0,05 and  semester VI Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,934> 0,05.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the ability of a student with mental retardation class X Senior High School in the SLB Bhakti Kencana 1 Berbah in resolving about multiplication and division operation of natural numbers. Research methods that were used the descriptive research to see student activity at the finish the same questions are given by researcher. The data was undertaken by using the video recorder to see the processing of student and test the the view student ability. The results obtained by student may be imperfect while doing the test and difficult to count multiplication and division operation. A Student could not connect the division or multiplication operation with another operation. Seen in change the repeated addition become the multiplication, a student could not be doing well. In addition a student not careful in counting and not focusing on doing the test problems.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a difference in the model of collaborative learning on mathematics learning outcomes by controlling the numerical talents of learners.  This type of research is quasi eksperiment with non equivalent control group design. The sample in this study consisted of two classes namely class X AP 1 as experiment class and class X AP 3 as control class with many students of each class were 39 and 38 students taken with sample random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using one-way t-test and ANAKOVA. Based on the results of hypothesis testing results obtained, there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of learners who follow the learning model of collaborative learning with the learning outcomes of learners who follow the conventional learning model with the value of t-test. after controlling to student's numerical talent there is difference of significant result of learning of mathematics among learners which follow model of collaborative learning with learners result of learning that follow conventional learning model. So there is an influence of collaborative learning model on mathematics learning outcomes by controlling the numerical talents of learners

Abstract

This research aims to diagnose the difficulties learning mathematics reviewed from numerical ability of extraordinary junior high school Karya Murni Manggaraistudents. This research was qualitative research andthe sampling technique used was purposive sampling, so the subjects were 4 of students. Data were collected using test and interview. Test was used to know the types of learning difficulties in mathematics and interview was used to know factors that cause difficulties to learn mathematics. Data were analyzed by using descriptive data analysis techniques with stages : reducing data, presentation of data, conclusion, and verification. The results of this research indicate that students are still having difficulties regarding mathematics calculations, connecting concepts in accordance with existing situation, and solve the problems. These difficulties are caused by weak memory, the material being taught is not related to the student’s daily life, and the lack of procedural, conseptual, and factual abilities. Therefore, it is necessary to find a strategy that can reduce student’s difficulties learning mathematics students and can improve student’s numerical ability.

Abstract

Geometry is one of the critical subjects of mathematics. It includes concepts as points, lines, planes, space and their relations. Representations of three-dimensional objects using two-dimensional diagrams bring the difficulties of identification of their properties. The subfactors of spatial ability were identified as the primary variables in the performances of students related to geometry subject. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between spatial visualisation and spatial orientation to the students understanding of space geometry concepts matter of the eighth-grade students. There are 60 eighth grade students as a  sample of the study. The reliability and the validity studies of the tests were carried out In the first part of the study. In the second part, correlation and regression analyses were carried out. Significant correlations were found between each factor. For clarifying the relationships between more than one-factor multiple regression analyses were used. The results showed that the two predictor variables explained the 65,61 % of the variance in plane geometry test scores. However, a degree of contribution of each factor differed. The relative impact of spatial orientation ability (B=. 55) was higher than the spatial visualisation ability (B=. 28).
